Check out my new project.

As many of you know I've started a new project with EW Scripps called Rootclip.com. Coolest part is that I'm heading out in a week to take the last contest Good Luck to be presented at the Traverse City Film Festival. I get to meet Michael Moore and hang with a bunch of film buffs. Should be a great time.

Rootclip.com is a collaborative video contest, and we just unveiled a new design and lots of celebrity judges. Do me a favor and pass this site along to the film buff in your life. I think they will get a kick out of it.

For those of you who haven't yet gotten involved with the site, it is a very unique concept. The Rootclip filmmakers create a short video clip or "Rootclip" to start the story. Then filmmakers and film enthusiasts watch the video, then shoot their own video of what they think happens next. The fun is that people who make the films, and the viewers like us get to vote on the best entries and basically direct the story. It's a lot like those choose-your-own-adventure books from when I was a kid.

Check out the our newest Rootclip Contest - Chance Encounter.

Chance Encounter is one of the best story lines we've developed so far.

Every day, Ryan Brown and his friend KC walk the same path to the same bus stop on their way to the same job. Not today. An incredible event forever changes the mundane lives of Ryan, KC, and an unknown news reporter waiting at the bus stop. Where will their journey lead? Only you can determine their path.

For this contest, Rootclip is giving away a $2,000.00 Cash Grand Prize, and each chapter winner will receive a $250 VISA Gift Card, a really Balance Beam from Trig Industries, a "Video for the Web" training DVD by VASST, and The DV Rebel's Guide: An All-Digital Approach to Making Killer Action Movies on the Cheap by Stu Maschwitz,

So go ahead and check it out already.

Live Blogging the Mile High Music Festival

Sorry for the delay, but my LifeCast software kicked out on me during the Festival. So instead of getting the full coverage, here's what you get.

Tom Petty was good as always, but almost impossible to get close to. Spoon rocked my world. Moe was pretty good.

All in all the festival was run pretty well. A few niggles though. The premium beer stand was located a good 10 minute walk from any stage, meaning you'd miss 30-minutes of show for each beer. Bud and Bud Light was all that was available. Food lines topped 90 minutes in most cases for food, which wasn't cool either. And bathrooms could be another 10-20 minute walk from most stages, which is too long. Another 30 minutes of music lost. Good think I didn't have to use them too often though, but that was the beer stand location's fault!

All and all, I think I'll be going again next year, for both days this time!

Live Blogging The Mile High Mu…

So we're finally here after a bit of delay. I am amazed by how many people are here. I've attended ACL for many years, but the crowd here is massive. But the layout I'd nice and not overwhelming.

We've started with a band called Citizen Cope on the main stage. The crowd is huge and we can't get anywhere near the stage. Even so, the acoustics are phenominal here, and the sound quality on the grass fields is amazing.

Citizen Cope is putting on a great show. Soulful singing combined with deep grooves makes it enjoyable and danceable. Looking forward to seeing the band Moe in an hour.

The 55

I can't wait to get my 55 Chevy back in two weeks. Just finishing up the touches. Getting new litters and a new camshaft to keep it purring. Already replaced the water pump, added a new aluminum radiator, put on new valve covers, and put on a custom built shroud. Here's to the new and updated classics.

Rootclip is at it again.

My buddies over at Rootclip.com have just updated their video contest website with a bunch of new features, profile pages, celebrity judges, user stats, and multiple storylines so that Rootclip.com will soon have new submissions and voting every week!

Most exciting is that they have a new Rootclip Contest - Chance Encounter.

Here's a quick summary of the story:
Every day, Ryan Brown and his friend KC walk the same path to the same bus stop on their way to the same job. Not today. An incredible event forever changes the mundane lives of Ryan, KC, and an unknown news reporter waiting at the bus stop. Where will their journey lead? Only you can determine their path.
What I like about this contest, is that the story is much more open to interpretation than some of the last stories. It seems to me that they are branching out into a different type of story, and that's really cool.

For this contest, Rootclip is giving away a $2,000.00 Cash Grand Prize, and each chapter winner will receive a $250 VISA Gift Card, a really cool Balance Beam from Trig Industries, Retail Value $249.50, a "Video for the Web" training DVD by VASST, Retail Value $80, and The DV Rebel's Guide: An All-Digital Approach to Making Killer Action Movies on the Cheap by Stu Maschwitz, Retail Value of $44.99. (ARV: $615.49, subject to all contest rules)

If you are new to Rootclip, here's the basic concept. They create a short video clip or "Rootclip" to start the story. You watch the video, then shoot your own rendition of what should happen next in less than 2 minutes. Once you've created your video, upload it to Rootclip.com during the submission period and compete for votes against the videos from other users. Gain the highest percentage of user and judge votes during the voting period and your video becomes the next chapter in the story.

If you know any film enthusiasts, pass it along, this looks like a fun contest to join. I only wish I knew how to make films myself!

iPhone Firmware 2.0

So I've installed iPhone Firmware 2.0 today, and I have to say that it is rocking my world. It's not the firmware so much, as the ability to install these incredible free Apps. My favorite so far has to be the Apple Remote, which allows me to control my iTunes and AppleTV from my phone. Twitterriffic has been incredible as well, and I'm still exploring. Maybe I'll do a review later this week.
